Here is a glimpse of the THE WORLD OF TUNA FISHING MUSEUM at the CASAMAR VILLAGE MARKET. The museum has a valuable collection of prints and books recording important events of the tuna fishing industry. The oldest are 2 16th century copper engravings by Braun & Hogenberg (1575) which depicts the importance of tuna in local villages during the 16th century. There are important books in the collection significant to the tuna industry including: 3 volumes of Tyndale's Travels to Sardinia published in 1848 in London and Ricardo Bachelli's "LO SA IL TONNO" published in Milan. In the late 1700s, as Napoleon Bonaparte continued to expand his ambitions, it became more difficult to feed his troops especially during the winter. Napoleon Bonaparte announced a contest for a method to preserve food to feed his troops. Nicolas Appert, a French confectioner published a book in 1810 on the Method of Preserving Food. His book won the 1200 Frank contest reward. The museum has the 1st edition in French of the book signed by Nicolas Appert and a copy of the 1st translation in English published in 1817 in London.
